Attorney General Announces Inquiry into President's Rivals and Epstein Connections

This past Friday, the Attorney General assigned interim US attorney Jay Clayton to lead an probe into opponents of Donald Trump and their relationships with the late financier. This move came shortly after the president directed her to initiate the investigation.

During an announcement, Bondi praised Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. She stated, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”

This development seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from federal authorities which indicated that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for additional investigations. According to the document, investigators “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”

The President Demands Focus on Democrats in Epstein Matter

The announcement comes as increasing pressure from the president on congressional Republicans to block the public disclosure of Epstein-related documents ahead of an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Many Republicans are anticipated to support the disclosure.

Newly public communications from Jeffrey Epstein have highlighted the president’s past involvement with the convicted criminal, including details that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

That same day, the President announced he would direct the Department of Justice to investigate connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also described the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
