The Wales head coach says the English squad depth is remarkable that matchmakers would not match them with the Welsh team.

Bellamy's men meet England in a non-competitive match at Wembley on Thursday before their important qualifying match against the Belgians next the following week.

England manager Tuchel has left the such as Jude Bellingham, Foden and Jack Grealish from his squad for the match against Wales and their World Cup qualifier against the Latvian team.

"England have a ridiculous squad, similar to France," the coach said.

"They have a transfer market value of 1.4 billion pounds, ours is 170 million. If you were a fight promoter, you would not match us up. That wouldn't be permitted."

He says making sure the Welsh team can compete with the star-studded rivals is a "key motivation".

The Wales head coach added: "Our team don't go off market prices, but the reality is they have more than one team. They possess multiple and France and other nations have the same level. They have many top talents and that's the honest truth."

"A defender was ruled out injured the other day and there's only two dozen others to go! They've got over sixty players. I wish us to be well-equipped similarly."

The neighbouring countries most recently met at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, when England ran out easy 3-0 winners in a fixture before the previous England team reached the quarter-finals.

The new manager is Tuchel, a European and world club champion at the London club who has claimed league championships in France and his native Germany.

Bellamy was previously an assistant at the Belgian side and the English club to Kompany, who succeeded him at the German giants.

"He's an incredible manager - his record is proven," he noted.

"I have a degree of insight because the club he left I am familiar with individuals who have joined. I gain a bit of an insight from that of how he works and it's remarkable. "

"His tactical detail is top level and I wanted to be up against such a challenge - see how we adjust because he adapts too. I can learn from it. I'd love to get to that level."
